Had my second jab yesterday. No obvious side effects this time. 👍

Met up for a picnic and walk with friends yesterday. A somewhat chilly picnic but it warmed up as the afternoon went on. Just a relief to be able to get out and meet up. Quite busy, everyone enjoying their freedom but it was interesting how people were considerate, made an effort to maintain social distancing and most noticeably, seemed rather quiet and tired. Setting the clocks forward an hour last weekend should dictate that I have trouble waking up early enough. So as the exception to prove the rule, I have woken at about 4:30am most mornings since, which a week ago would have been 3:30am. Go figure. I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled for more swallows but none so far beyond the lone arrival on Tuesday. Thursday was exceptionally hazy with Saharan dust. Read more

Had the invitation to get my Covid jab. All booked in for next Saturday. Went for an early appointment to hopefully give me time to get past any side effects over the weekend.

Looks like I won’t be getting my vaccine until at least May due to a shortage. I can’t say it overly bothers me as I am low risk and I’m certainly not going to burden myself with trying to get my head around what politicians are saying or not saying about what is behind the shortage.

Received a letter from the NHS inviting me to take part in their ongoing research into COVID-19 levels. Selection is at random and taking part is entirely voluntary - I am happy to do my bit and become a statistic. It involves a short survey and then I’ll receive a test kit in the post which will be collected by a courier once I’ve done it.
